IMPORTANT - SUNDAY 18TH FEB - NOT AT ST PAT’S

Due to Round the Bays, we will have no vehicle access to St Pat’s College on Sunday 18th Feb. We could have asked everyone to walk/run/cycle to church but instead we will meet in homes to watch the sermon, and enjoy some kai together. This is short notice because we only realised this week, sorry!

Matt Rowan will be speaking in the second part of our Wholehearted series, all we need you to do is let us know you’re coming so we can arrange houses for everyone to meet in. Please register nice and quickly so we have as much time as possible to arrange enough houses for us to meet in. IMPORTANT - if you would be willing to host people at your house, please indicate this when you register, thank you. Hopefully enough people will be able to host to accommodate everyone that is able to come!

It’s super easy, just register for the event on the Church Center App or via this link and we will sort the rest.

Any questions please contact jenny.gill@thestreet.org.nz or ask your Life Group leader.

(If you’re running in Round the Bays we hope you have a great time!)

Systematic Theology groups

Systematic Theology is the study of what the Bible teaches us about any given topic. It helps us to understand key concepts about God, humanity, the church and the future.

Spaces are available to join a mixed group as they work through a study of Systematic Theology.

Meet fortnightly on a Monday night 7pm - 9pm either at 21 Hania St or via zoom

For more information please email office@thestreet.org.nz

To hear firsthand from some men at The Street click this link Next week we’ll share a video of what the women thought!

New sermon series - Wholehearted

The start of a new year presents a prime opportunity for envisioning people for the year ahead. In our next teaching series, we're exploring the five areas in which Scripture calls us to be wholehearted. Check out this short promo video from our Senior Pastor, Simon Gill, as he shares the rationale behind it. Starting on Sunday 11th Feb.

Families Seminar - with Richard Black

How do we interact with and love our neighbour when we hold differing values? How do we raise children to be confident in who God has made them to be? Traditional ways of communicating have often taken a defensive or argumentative approach. Jesus was never on the defensive. This seminar will look at how Christians can be confident in their faith while maintaining an openness to others who hold different perspectives and values.

The wonderful Richard Black, founder of Mindhealth, will dive into these questions over a 6-hour seminar. The seminar is targeted at parents but will be fruitful for anyone involved in raising or working with children or for adults wondering about these questions for themselves in their community or workplace.

'Cultivating a discipleship mindset to raise the next generation in a diverse world'

Mark the 22nd of June in your calendar now. 9am-3:30pm at Hania St.

You can register on the church app, or there is a link in the “Events” section of this newsletter.

A big thank you from CAP!

Christmas is such a wonderful opportunity for us to bless our CAP clients and others in the community that need a little extra support. In December, we held a Christmas BBQ for our clients, and as you know, we also distributed hampers. Click below to watch a short video from the BBQ and a thank you for those who have contributed to both the BBQ and the Hampers.

We’ll also have a four week online summer series, so if you’re away there is no need to miss out. On the 31st Dec and 7th of Jan we will take a look back over sermons from 2023 with a panel discussing stand-out moments for them. On 14th and 21st of January a panel of Location and Senior Pastors will look ahead into 2024, discussing Bible characters they resonate with as we seek to grow in our Love for the Lord. If you are with family and friends over this time who do not have a relationship with Jesus yet, these are wonderful services to invite them to watch with you.

Have a wonderful Summer church!

Hampers for Strathmore Community Centre

We have been approached by Strathmore Community Centre to provide hampers for around 20 single people and couples linked to the community centre that will find things difficult over Christmas without the usual food services running. We have teamed up with Salvation Army Miramar and Gateway Baptist Church to provide these hampers.

Spreads - Jam/peanut butter/ honey

Mini meringues

Biscuits

Jars of cooking sauces

Christmas pudding

Fruit mince pies

Crackers

Chips

Rice

Pasta

Chocolate

Toiletries

Christmas crackers

There will be a large box at the service on 3rd December for you to put your donations into, or if you’d rather drop your donations to our house please email me jenny.gill@thestreet.org.nz

Thank you so much!

Invite your friends to our Christmas service

This year, our East Christmas service will be on Sunday 10th December and it’s going to be so much fun. We have a wonderful production that will be performed along with lots of festive cheer.  Pick up some Christmas invites from the service and prayerfully consider inviting some people you know wouldn’t normally attend church. What a great opportunity!

Latest Missions Newsletter

Missions is a big part of who we are as a church. We have a number of missionaries that we support as a church both financially and in prayer. The latest Missions Newsletter is out now, containing all the latest news and updates to help us to keep bringing our missionaries before the Lord in prayer. There should be a few paper copies at the back of the service on Sunday, or email missions@thestreet.org.nz for a digital copy.

Responding to the Call to Pray

Simon and Jenny shared the The Street’s new vision on Sunday, and challenged us that if we’re going to see our church move into all that God has in store for us, we need to be in prayer. If you missed the message please check it out here as it’s a key message for our church.

As you consider how you could increase prayer in your life here are some things you could consider.

Monday morning prayer - 6.30am every Monday at Dan and Hannah’s house.

Start up your own regular prayer meeting with one or two others and let us know so we can put it in the newsletter for others to join.

Come to the next Encounter on Sunday 3rd December, 7.15pm at St Aidan’s

Come to the next Eastern suburbs prayer time on Sunday 12th November, 7-8pm at Gateway Baptist

Catch up with someone for a walk/run and pray as you go

Use your current rhythms of prayer and consider if you are praying Elijah-like prayers - Big, whole-hearted, faith-filled, persistent prayers.
