Kia ora e te whānau and happy New Year! 

Welcome back to East after the summer break. We hope you have had a special Christmas and at least some sort of break over the last few weeks.

We are looking forward to kicking this year off with a new sermon series, "Rhythms of Grace" - learning about the practices that Jesus himself anchored himself with, in a busy and demanding life. We pray that as we put these rhythms into practice at the start of this new year, we will be able to prepare ourselves well for all that God has in store for each of us, and our church, in 2025.

Simon, the East leadership team and I are full of faith and expectant for an incredible year as we pursue Jesus together and cry out to God to move powerfully in our community. We're looking forward to being on this adventure with you all this year.

Come along and join with the other Miramar churches for some carol singing outside the Roxy Cinema. It's a great opportunity for our churches to be visible in the community, and also helping people to think about the real meaning of Christmas.

When/Where: Saturday 21st December 11am-12pm outside the Roxy Cinema

On Sunday 5th January we are hosting our friends from the other Miramar churches and it would be great if as part of our welcome we are able to provide lots of yummy baking. If you are able to help please let Gwyneth or one of the Connections team know!

Over the summer we will be joining with 3 other churches in Miramar for combined services like we have done for the last few years. This is such a wonderful opportunity to experience services at the churches we are in relationship with in our local area, as well as worshipping together with other believers. It also gives the pastors and teams from each church a bit of a break over the summer! If you are around, here's all the information you need.

All services are at 10am. Our regular gatherings will resume on January 26th.

Nelson and Rachel Carreño, our Missionaries we support from Mexico will be in Wellington for a few weeks, and if anyone would like to catch up with them, we are hosting an Afternoon Tea on 1st December from 2:30 -4:30 pm at the Life Centre in town.

Four times a year a Seniors Lunch is held for those 65+ to connect together over a delicious meal. Each time they meet there is a short inspiring message and a quiz led by Murray Scott.

The last gathering for the year will be held at Silverstream Retreat on Nov 27th.

Carols in Parliament is a Christmas service in association with the Council of Wellington Churches, with music by the Salvation Army Band & the Choir of Wellington Cathedral of St Paul

Simon and Jenny have had on their hearts a desire to run a prayer gathering overlooking parliament. This area seems to be the epicentre of the darkness in our city and we want to contend for God to move right in the middle of it.
You are invited to join a weekly prayer gathering from 12-1pm on Thursdays (from 24th Oct) in the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul. This will take place in the Flag Tower over looking parliament. If you work, study, play or live in the city - come for any or all of it, as your schedule allows. It’ll also be open to other churches with a focus on praying for the city, nation and world

If you want to grow in leadership ability, deepen your faith, and explore ministry, our 2025 Internship Programme might be for you! The programme runs part-time from January to December, offering hands-on experience in ministry while you develop your knowledge of God’s Word. Whatever your age or stage of life, if you're looking for an opportunity to grow and serve, we encourage you to prayerfully consider applying. We are sending a team on a short-term missions experience trip to Thailand in November 2025! The trip is for anyone who senses a call to missions, or is curious and simply wants to experience what it could be like. The trip will spend a week in Bangkok and a week in the far north of Thailand. Expressions of interest are now open until November 17 - simply email missions@thestreet.org.nz and say you are keen to find out more. A formal application process will follow.

We are thrilled to share some exciting news for our Youth and Intermediate age ministry!

God has certainly gone before us and provided abundantly as we welcome Peter Crosson as our new Youth Pastor. Pete has a strong sense of calling to this role and is passionate about discipling and leading young people. He brings valuable experience, currently serving as a Youth Pastor in Island Bay and in wider Youth Ministry over a number of years. We are excited to see how God will work through him alongside both the Squad and Massive teams, and also as he works alongside our Locations to see our young people becoming multiplying disciple-makers.

Pete is currently finishing up his university studies and wrapping up a part-time youth role at another church, which he will continue until the end of the year. In the meantime, Jenny, Piper, and the rest of the team have a great plan in place to keep things running smoothly until Pete can join us full time.

We look forward to the future of our youth ministry and are confident that it is in good hands. If you have any questions or would like more information, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Christmas is speedily approaching and we need to start thinking about what fun we can organise for our Christmas service this year. It will be happening on Sunday 8th December and we’d like to bring together a group of Christmas loving creatives to be involved in putting something together.

We long to see a move of God in our city and in our nation, and that is only going to come in response to us being on our knees, crying out to God to have mercy. We long to be a church that prays like it matters - not a handful of people, but all of us, bringing our prayers and requests of all kinds to the Lord at all times, and believing that he will answer us.
Pete Greig, the founder of 24/7 prayer, has a vision for this to be the reality for christians all around the world. We are blessed to be able to host an evening of worship, teaching and prayer with Pete at Life Centre in early October.

Nick and Sarah were previously Senior Pastors of The Street Church, and left to start ‘The Way’ a few years ago; this is a movement of everyday missionaries, a collective of home churches. As a missional disciple-making movement, The Way is built around home churches which reproduce, equipping followers of Jesus to become everyday missionaries in their own communities. Earlier this year The Send held a gathering in TSB Arena for the Wellington Region. The gatherings have continued throughout New Zealand and to finish the tour an opening gathering will be held in Hamilton on 23rd of November.
THE SEND is not just an event, it’s a call to action to see every believer activated into their missional calling, mobilizing you to reach Schools, Universities, Children, Communities, Neighbourhoods and The Nations.

Join thousands of other believers in November to believe for Jesus to transform our nation, and find your part to play.

This combined church prayer event is an opportunity to come together in faith to pray for our leaders and the issues facing our nation, believing that God not only hears but responds to the cries of our hearts as we seek the welfare of our nation!

Missions is a big part of who we are as a church. We love to support missionaries who have answered a call to go out and make disciples full-time. We have an afternoon tea coming up with some missionaries visiting from overseas. This will be a great opportunity to hear about the ministry work they are involved in. We love our Strathmore Park Community Dinner community and long to see God moving among them. Please join us for an hour of prayer for those precious people and those we’re yet to meet.
