Gateway Baptist have asked us to extend an open invite to all families to their event at Kilbirnie Rec Centre. This is what they say:

We have hired Kilbirnie Rec Centre on Sunday 2 March, 2.30 – 4.30. This is an open invitation for the local churches to come and join us. We would like you to share this information with families in your churches and invite them along. You are also most welcome to join in the fun. Phil in the past has come along and put on his skates and shot some hoops with the youth and children. We see this as a great opportunity for church families to come together, for the children to see the church family is bigger than just those in their own church, and it’s a great afternoon of fun.

Gather ’25: A Global Church Night

The church has never been about walls or where we’re from—it’s about people, all over the world, united in Jesus. And honestly, how cool is it that in 2025, we can worship with our brothers and sisters from across the globe without leaving our city?
That’s what Gather ’25 is all about. 25 hours of churches all over the world tuning in, sharing stories of what God is doing, worshipping together, and being reminded that we’re part of something so much bigger than what we see on a Sunday morning.
So we’re making a night of it! Together, Mt Vic and Night are hosting a space to bring your dinner, bring your friends, and come hang out with us. We’ll eat, connect, and dive into this powerful global gathering together. Drop in and drop out between 5.30pm and 9pm as suits you and your whānau.

We have the privilege of hosting Brad Carr for a weekend in March where he will host his Panorama seminar, giving people a clear and compelling overview of the whole Bible story. Hi, I’m Em and I’ve been a member of The Street Church for 7 years, serving as Mt Vic’s Children’s Ministry Local Lead for the last 17 months. Originally born in England, I have called Wellington my home for 29 years and love exploring the great outdoors here and around New Zealand on foot and bike. For the last 18 years I have been blessed to be a stay-at-home mum/home-schooling mum, a journey which brought both my son and I to our faith in Jesus.

As a child I heard Bible stories but I wasn’t encouraged to explore faith any further. After decades of mental health struggles, I finally found my worth and joy in the Lord and these life experiences have given me the passion to share our greatest treasure with children so that they can experience the fullness of life with God from an early age.

I’m looking forward to learning about and contributing to the Central Children’s Ministry’s work and growing in my faith this year through the opportunities that God provides.

A CAP Money course is coming up soon, starting on 13th Feb at 7:30 pm at Salvation Army in Johnsonville.

During this three-session course, you’ll identify exactly how you spend your money and learn to prioritise the things that are most important to you. You’ll also learn to live well within your means, while managing or preventing debt, and saving for your future. The course uses a simple system that really works.

Welcome back to East after the summer break. We hope you have had a special Christmas and at least some sort of break over the last few weeks.

We are looking forward to kicking this year off with a new sermon series, "Rhythms of Grace" - learning about the practices that Jesus himself anchored himself with, in a busy and demanding life. We pray that as we put these rhythms into practice at the start of this new year, we will be able to prepare ourselves well for all that God has in store for each of us, and our church, in 2025.

Simon, the East leadership team and I are full of faith and expectant for an incredible year as we pursue Jesus together and cry out to God to move powerfully in our community. We're looking forward to being on this adventure with you all this year.

Come along and join with the other Miramar churches for some carol singing outside the Roxy Cinema. It's a great opportunity for our churches to be visible in the community, and also helping people to think about the real meaning of Christmas.

When/Where: Saturday 21st December 11am-12pm outside the Roxy Cinema

Over the summer we will be joining with 3 other churches in Miramar for combined services like we have done for the last few years. This is such a wonderful opportunity to experience services at the churches we are in relationship with in our local area, as well as worshipping together with other believers. It also gives the pastors and teams from each church a bit of a break over the summer! If you are around, here's all the information you need.

All services are at 10am. Our regular gatherings will resume on January 26th.

Nelson and Rachel Carreño, our Missionaries we support from Mexico will be in Wellington for a few weeks, and if anyone would like to catch up with them, we are hosting an Afternoon Tea on 1st December from 2:30 -4:30 pm at the Life Centre in town.

Four times a year a Seniors Lunch is held for those 65+ to connect together over a delicious meal. Each time they meet there is a short inspiring message and a quiz led by Murray Scott.

The last gathering for the year will be held at Silverstream Retreat on Nov 27th.

Bring you friends and family for our Christmas service this year. Kids Zone will be performing a Nativity for us, we'll sing some carols, have a short Christmas message, and have some festive treats to eat! We can't wait to see you there.

Kia ora e te whānau, Simon and I are so excited to be back serving at East as Location Pastors, and as we step back into the role we just wanted to write a short note to you all about practically what it will look like in the near future. In case you weren't at the service last Sunday, we thanked and prayed for Dan and Hannah, and Simon and I were commissioned into the role. We shared that we will be doing it on a part time basis (6 hours/week each) and so we are continuing to lean into the great team culture Dan and Hannah have built. That means we lead alongside a growing Leadership Team, where every person plays the part that they have the capacity and the gifting to play.

Simon will continue to be involved in supporting at Mt Vic and will be at East 2 out of 4 Sundays until the end of the year, with a view to that being 3 out of 4 from the start of next year. I (Jenny) will continue to be at East 3 out of 4 Sundays and will use the other Sunday to visit and support other Locations across the city.

We are so expectant and hopeful for this next season of East's journey and we know that as we continue to press into prayer, our God will do more than we can ask or imagine. So happy to be on this journey with you all.

Simon and Jenny have had on their hearts a desire to run a prayer gathering overlooking parliament. This area seems to be the epicentre of the darkness in our city and we want to contend for God to move right in the middle of it.
You are invited to join a weekly prayer gathering from 12-1pm on Thursdays (from 24th Oct) in the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul. This will take place in the Flag Tower over looking parliament. If you work, study, play or live in the city - come for any or all of it, as your schedule allows. It’ll also be open to other churches with a focus on praying for the city, nation and world

If you want to grow in leadership ability, deepen your faith, and explore ministry, our 2025 Internship Programme might be for you! The programme runs part-time from January to December, offering hands-on experience in ministry while you develop your knowledge of God’s Word. We are sending a team on a short-term missions experience trip to Thailand in November 2025! The trip is for anyone who senses a call to missions, or is curious and simply wants to experience what it could be like. The trip will spend a week in Bangkok and a week in the far north of Thailand. Expressions of interest are now open until November 17 - simply email missions@thestreet.org.nz and say you are keen to find out more. A formal application process will follow.

We are thrilled to share some exciting news for our Youth and Intermediate age ministry!

God has certainly gone before us and provided abundantly as we welcome Peter Crosson as our new Youth Pastor. Pete has a strong sense of calling to this role and is passionate about discipling and leading young people. He brings valuable experience, currently serving as a Youth Pastor in Island Bay and in wider Youth Ministry over a number of years. We are excited to see how God will work through him alongside both the Squad and Massive teams, and also as he works alongside our Locations to see our young people becoming multiplying disciple-makers.

Pete is currently finishing up his university studies and wrapping up a part-time youth role at another church, which he will continue until the end of the year. In the meantime, Jenny, Piper, and the rest of the team have a great plan in place to keep things running smoothly until Pete can join us full time.

We look forward to the future of our youth ministry and are confident that it is in good hands. If you have any questions or would like more information, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Christmas is speedily approaching and we need to start thinking about what fun we can organise for our Christmas service this year. It will be happening on Sunday 8th December and we’d like to bring together a group of Christmas loving creatives to be involved in putting something together.
